THEATRE DIRECTOR
Masterclass at the Haymarket - Coffee with Creatives
Dewi Johnson, Masterclass alumnus held a Creative Conversation on the role of an Associate Director. The session looked into:
-
What the role of an Associate Director is, and how it differs from an Assistant or Resident Director
-
How to you make your niche work for you
-
How to build your network as an emerging director

Participant Feedback-
"It was great to have such honest answers to our questions, to know how admin heavy the role can be and now I’m thinking about what my niche is!"
"Hearing Dewi talk about regional theatre being just as important and not to be afraid to approach them to ask for work experience or shadowing opportunities was super useful. It’s refreshing for regional theatre to be spoken about and it gave me confidence that I can still achieve great things despite not living in the big city"
"Thanks for such a great session - it really helped me understand the different roles of directors and how to approach applying for them. I wouldn't have had the confidence otherwise. And to approach directors I admire!"
